Latest edition features significant speed increases
The PathEngine SDK has been updated to version 5.16.
The latest version is largely comprised of optimisations, particularly in the pre-generation of ground meshes from 3D source geometry - with the developers going as far as quoting order of magnitude reductions in processing times for certain environments.
Run-time mesh loading has also been boosted, and there are big speed enhancements in 'core point collision and 'find closest unobstructed position' queries'.
In addition to the new version, PathEngine has announced a new set of licence types, including a cheaper binary-only licence for the Xbox 360 and an all-platform version of the full source licence. Two new licensees have also been signed up: Frogwares, a graphical adventure game developer with offices in Ireland and the Ukraine; and Korean studio NeoAct.
