Bid to grow German games industry by targeting development sector
Studios hoping to expand their business or find new offices are being targeted by a new office complex built by the organisers of Germany's Game Convention.
Based in Leipzig near the Leipziger Messe convention center where the yearly European games industry event is held, the Game Developer Business Centre (GDBC) has been designed to attract studios to set up shop in Germany.
The team behind it say the location is an ideal gateway for those hoping to tap into Eastern European talent - or European talent overall.
"Our goal is to offer companies the resources and opportunities necessary to create a vibrant games industry in the Saxony area of Germany," said Matthias Rose, managing director of GDBC Europe.
GDBC is boasting a number of connections to both local services firms and educators as part of its way to attract business; Streamline Studios and Leipzig University are both close by.
Added Rose: "We're offering office space and infrastructure, but also our business expertise, connections, and access to our international network of partners, which we feel will maximize the opportunities for success for companies that choose to work with the GDBC."
