Survey says Hyderabad will help drive industry to $425m value

The Times of India reports that a new survey from NASSCOM (India's National Association for Software and Services Companies) has marked the Indian games sector for a growth in value from its current $7.5m to $425m by 2010 – and it says the activity will come from the increased activity of games developers in the region.

City Hyderabad in particular was named as being key, thanks to the likes of EA Jamdat, Microsoft, Gameloft and Gameshastra having offices there.

NASSCOM regional director, Col Ramachandran, commented: "Alongside Bangalore, Hyderabad stands second when it comes to gaming in India. If we can leverage the opportunities to our advantage, the city can certainly seize a major chunk of the $22 billion global gaming market."
