Thanks to some nifty tax cuts, Montreal is now one of the global hotspots for games development – and any hotspot needs its own development conference.

Now in its fourth year, the Montreal International Game Summit is ‘geared to industry needs’, and aims to be the ‘annual event for game development specialists from Quebec, Canada and the US East Coast’. That ‘International’ in the title isn’t just for show, though, as attendees from all across the world descend on the city in the heart of winter to warm their cockles with games industry know-how and gossip.

Last year’s event saw over 1,200 attendees enjoying more than 50 sessions by almost 80 ‘world-renowned experts in programming, visual arts, game design, audio design, production, business and serious games’ – but for those more business-focused, a special separate business lounge is available for schmoozing and deal breaking.
